Oyin Handmade Juices & Berries Nourishing Herbal Leave-In ~ scented body products

July 4th, 2010 by admin

Oyin Handmade conditionersummer fruits

One of the consolations of summertime, for those of us who don’t enjoy heat and humidity and the constant sight of other people’s unkempt feet in flip-flops, is the abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Even I, a dedicated starch-lover, experience a craving for something a little more colorful at this time of year. I’m grateful for the network of farmers’ markets that has expanded to urban areas, and for the tiny city-yardspace behind our new home, where my husband and I are making our first attempts at growing a few potted edibles.

Oyin Handmade’s Juices & Berries is a spray-on, leave-in conditioner for hair, and it smells like the kind of fruit salad that you can only make at the height of the summer season. The New + Improved Adventures of Curlilocks

May 3rd, 2010 by admin

All of my life, women have told me that they’d trade their straight tresses for my curls if only they could. To them I have always invariably replied, “Imagine waking up every single day with a do that looks like Bob Dylan.” End of discussion.

Curly hair is no walk in the park, especially on a [...]

If Tim Burton were to have a run-in with Coco Chanel, and the two were to serendipitously collaborate on designing the interior of their dream hair salon – the end result would be something of a glamorous nightmare; the kind of place only the Lady Gaga’s of our world could imagine. November 1st, 2009 by admin

One of hair care’s most ubiquitous ingredients is something we think of as the key component to our favorite cocktail or the smelly solution we douse on an infected piercing. Hair companies do not laud alcohol nor do they display it proudly on the front of their product bottles. But that doesn’t mean it’s not [...]

The commercials are typical: beautiful woman stands in shower, looking fondly into the pouring water that is enveloping her as she gracefully lathers away a massive crown of foam through her long and lustrous locks.
